SIS & Jim Plagenhoef
With over 40 years in the marine industry, Jim has developed a wide variety of experience. In that time, he has worked with several high profile companies such as Barient, Lewmar, Omohundro Company, Navtec and International Marine Industries. With those companies, he served several roles including sales and marketing, business development, manufacturing, management, and service - as well as a bit of brokerage experience.
Jim is also an accomplished sailor having competed in two America’s Cups and worked on systems development with four other AC campaigns. He also competed at the highest level on the world-wide stage, sailing many years in the maxi circuit, IOR 50s and all the way back to the SORC in the early 80’s.
Outside of the marine industry, Jim served as Director of Sales for North America at Vectrix Corporation, which built the first commercially available high-speed electric vehicle. In that role, he developed a nation wide dealer network as well as sales and service infrastructure.
Stratton Island Solutions, LLC was developed in 2007 to incorporate and present the knowledge and experience of Jim Plagenhoef's over 40 years in the marine industry and is the entity under which he does business.
